The I’m Still Getting Caught Up Update – April 6 – April 12-ish

April 17, 2012
by

So I returned from a week in New Brunswick to find several Corrie episodes on the PVR so I set to work getting through the episodes as much as I could.

Here’s what I think I missed so far:

  • Faye killed Owen’s fish with creosote so he hit her.
  • Beth is a hoot. She is the Anti-Cilla: sunny where Cilla was sour. She dotes on her silent son while Cilla ignored Fizz, Ches, and Bobby (remember him?)
  • Becky is now dating Danny, who has a kid and she’s really good with him so that’s…convenient for her.
  • Sunita is now a barmaid.
  • Kirsty and Tyrone broke up but now she’s pregnant. The time, the baby is most likely his.
  • Tina and Tommy: Is that happening?
  • Has Milton arrived from America yet?
  • Sally and Frank’s secret is out but his mother thinks the relationship is good PR for his trial.
  • Stella, who has been butting into every conversation in the pub, has figured out about Peter and Carla on account of the telltale necklace.

I think I watched up to just before Tracy’s hen do.

I’ll have a proper post once I’m all caught up.

Glad you’re back, John. You’ve been missed.
Was anyone else hollering at the TV yesterday, “Go to the cops! They’ve already got a case-file open on this!”? I realize this would not be Becky or Kylie’s 1st thought, but not even Roy or Hayley’s?! When the writing gets this ridiculous, just for a scene as silly as Becky attempting to break in to the medical centre, then the show loses credibility. Disappointing!

I’m not sure how British law works, but even with an open case file, wouldn’t the police need a warrant to access someone’s medical records? Or have I been watching too much Law and Order?

I was thinking that even Becky going to the police might get them to go back to Tracy and put her on the spot with the news. And wouldn’t Steve then wonder and check into it? Or is that too much to ask…

Great for me to have this info after missing the past 2 weeks! Thanks so much John. Now i see that we’re back to 1 episode a night on CBC. where does this put us in terms of how far behind the UK?

Milton hasn’t arrived yet. Not much happens in the few minutes we get between commercials these days. A bit of plotting about medical records went on tonight with Gail. Faye got grounded for a month. Good luck with that Anna! Eileen’s TV is now kaput!

Bless you John. I just returned from a week in Pennsylvania – no CBC available and no DVR at home.

Two questions: Who is Milton? Why was Becky breaking into the medical Centre?

Sorry to hear about the pg cop. Tyrone needs an Eileen-type his age.

Ah yes, Cilla’s son Bobby, who was in the service right? Now that was a stretch to remember, cleared the cobwebs out a wee bit. ;)

Milton is the American chap Sylvia met on her cruise, he used to serenade her each night on deck with his uke-banjo (sounds kind of dirty eh?) under the stars. She has been calling him long distance and Roy docked the amount from her wages last week.
Becky was trying to get hold of Tracy’s medical records to prove she lost the twins a full 24 hours before the fall down the stairs.

Liked the interaction Marcus had with Paul’s wife, must be getting old when music I grew up with is an oldie goldie on the street!

Thank you so much for filling in the blanks. How could I have forgotten the name of Sylvia’s shipboard romancer? Poor Becky, she keeps trying to fix things at an angle.

I agree with Gail’s assessment of tracy

I don’t mind Stella, I believe there was a lot of negative reaction to her in England when she first came on. What I have trouble getting my head around is how she’s suddenly everyone’s maiden aunt/shoulder to cry on. She’s only been on the street 5 minutes! Why is Sunita in her back room pouring her heart out? I can’t really remember them even having a conversation prior to that…. I like Beth so far, great addition.d

It’s not that long ago that Dev. and Sunita were back in love again. Love lasts about 5 minutes on that street! Why was Sunita suddenly so resentful of Amber when Amber came back home? They seemed to get along OK in the past.

Kylie has done an about turn and is now a loving sister and can seem quite pleasant at times. Not that I’m complaining but she actually seems to care about Becky for a change.

I thought it was a bit much when Paul brought his wife to stay with Eileen. The wife knows something is not right and if Eileen had to look after her, it should have been at Paul’s place.

I have wondered if the initial negative reaction to Stella in the UK was as a result of the actress’ previous role in East Enders. She was the most unpleasant wife of Ian Beale.

apparently, from articles i’ve read…it was Stella’s fake Manchester accent that has garnered the negative reaction. I obviously have no idea between a real one and fake one lol

Really liking Sylvia. She reminds me of Hyacinthe Bucket (Bouquet)

OMG you guys, I just watched today’s episode. Twice. I won’t spoil it for you, but for me it was one of those episodes that reminds me just how much I love this show.

Becky was one of the best characters and I’ll miss her – but she had a great farewell!

Totally agree – an amazing episode! And yes – a great farewell.
If that really is Becky’s permanent goodbye from the street, I will really miss her. Hopefully, her’s is just a temporary departure from the street. But she deserves some happiness and it looks like life with Danny and his little boy will be very good.
