It’s no secret that Carla has won a lot of us over this week. As suspected, Carla without Paul is a much more likable woman. My own personal love affair with her is that she’s turning out to be one of those great characters that’s not going to be always good or always bad.
Yesterday morning, still in the warm glow of watching Carla take charge of the factory, I was reading Leah McClaren’s Saturday column. The gist of it was how all women need to embrace their inner bitch every so often and not always be the nice doormat.
To further her praise of the strong but not always popular woman, she quoted Tina Fey’s suggested campaign line for Hillary Clinton and I realized how appropriately it would apply to our Carla.
“Bitches get the job done.”
The first time I’ve liked her is when she turned Sally down for the PA job.
Yessss! “Stop wasting my time, Sally.”
First time I liked her, she thanked Hayley. Second time, she took all their phones.
She threatened Janice.
And finally, she offered to buy drinks.
Have we ever had a high-powered woman boss on the show? We’ve had high-powered assistants, we’ve had female pub co-owners, but a real high powered, could be dangerous/mean woman in charge of other livelihoods?
I’m becoming taken in by Carla Connor too and am even starting to wonder if the new Elsie Tanner has finally arrived.
Soooooooooo hoping Liam never comes back.
Let me also get on the Carla bandwagon — her handling of Sally was superb. And Glacia, LOVED Leah McLaren’s column yesterday too. On some of my bad days I’ve decided my new motto could be “bitches get the job done”.
I actually found myself liking her a little too. I have had a small amount of sympathy for her in the past, because I know what it’s like to be the outsider in a tight family circle, but never liked her.
But anyone who can get that gang to buckle down and work deserves admiration.
It’ll be interesting to see how Liam handles this when he comes back (I presume he and MIchelle are eventually returning?).
Liam didn’t like her before. Now…
Michigander Fan
I loved how Carla took over running the factory and put Sally in her place. Sally is not remotely qualified to be a personal assistant. I doubt if she can even use a computer. I don’t miss Michelle at all I wouldn’t be upset if she never came back. How many more times is Janice going to get a second chance. Walking into work with a pint in your hand is a sackable offense wherever you work!
Where did they get the fabric and orders? Did Carla sneek in at night and order them? They had nothing to work on and Hailey was scrubbing the floor and cleaning last I noticed.
If you want bitches, there was the one who seduced and married Mike, then slept with his son. Wasn’t she some kind of boss? Or maybe just thought she was – or acted like it. Alma and Gail ran the cafe but they weren’t bitches. Then there was mad Maya but she didn’t live on Corrie.
Mike’s girlfriend was Linda, but she never actually married him. His son Mark came back on the wedding day and spilled the beans.
Linda was also an assistant manager, to Mike
Right! It all comes back to me now. Those were the good old days and I still wish they’d brought Mark back to stay and fight for the factory with Danny and Adam – though we did see him in a couple of quick scenes in Mike’s last days.
I’d like to see Carla with Danny Baldwin.
Penny king runs a tight ship across town, and no one expected her to after her husband died.
Beanie: I agree with you, I think Carla and Danny would make a great couple running the factory together!
I miss Penny. Lots.

I am reserving judgment.
Yes, I liked the way Carla handled Sally. But, I liked it because Sally had been so mean to Hayley, and not because she asked Carla for the position.
And it was good of Carla to thank Hayley. But (there is a but again) did she apologize to Hayley for giving her the brush off when Hayley had directly approached her to talk to her about the business? This isn’t rhetorical, I don’t know because I missed that part. If she did, then she will go up in my books, but if she didn’t, then I am less impressed.
She was enjoyable to watch, mind you, and it would be lovely if she became a female Danny Baldwin. I am keeping my fingers crossed, but am not expectant.
Carla is sultry sexy and a proper laddette.
she is fit as cheese
I think that Carla Conner is a very attractive lady how ever she neads to be a littel more caring adn loving towards others esecaily her employees.
