Tribute to Vernon’s T-Shirt

As mentioned earlier, Vernon continued his streak of wearing awesome T-shirts with this week’s Captain America one, complete with ripped abs. This delighted the comic nerd in me and I can’t help but wonder if the shirt was Vern’s tribute to the Star-Spangled Avenger, who died last year (his former sidekick is throwing the shield these days).

With that in mind, I give you this video tribute to Marvel’s first big hero, who fought Nazis with a bulletproof shield but was powerless against a pulled hamstring.

    CL,

Well, if the Pens don’t get their act together, by next Monday.

If not, then definitely by the following Monday.

Then, after we’ve gotten used to it again, it will be pre-empted by the stupid Olympics.

I’d feel a lot more charitable towards the Pens if I hadn’t heard they want to use the Hockeytown moniker. That cheesed me off.

Apparently our esteemed mayor (cough) actually placed a wager with their mayor, telling them he would name them “Hockeytown” if they won. No word yet on what Detroit City Council’s reaction to that was – however it probably violated the City Charter! ha. ha. ha.

    Sigh.

BTW, awesome vid, John! Of course, the music postdates Captain America, who, much like that Big Square Superman, would NEVER say the F word.

However, I have to say that I LOVE the song (and just about everything else) from Team America: World Police. I honestly can’t think of another movie within the last few years that made me laugh THAT hard, THAT often.

My personal fave song was “Freedom Costs $1.05”. Well, that and “I’m So Ronery”

Michigander Fan – I just realized that the mayor of Detroit is Kwame Kilpatrick so I did some Googling and..OH MY GOD!!!

    Benz Chilli Bowl…heh….

    John,

Um. Yeah. It puts a WHOLE new spin on being from Motown, let me tell you.

I keep thinking that it can’t get any worse. Then the next day dawns and the Free Press runs a new story, or Steve Wilson on our local ABC affiliate digs up new dirt.

The Daily Show actually ran a thing about it a few weeks ago, but they were focusing on the affair with the Chief of Staff and firing of the police officers, and the subsequent (alleged) perjury. They completely missed the murder of the stripper which started this whole clusterduck in the first place.

Like I said, at this point I don’t think he needs to be offering to give away the name Hockeytown to ANYONE. If Rocket Richard’s GHOST asked that Montreal gets the name Hockeytown, at this point, he doesn’t have the right to give it to him. Plus, we need all the feel good vibes we can muster right about now.
