Monday September 1st – The Half Thruths Update

UK Time Monday November 20th  – Episode 2

Yes, Friday’s episode ended with a bang from Fiz and a whimper from Sally. I gotta tell you guys, I love it when the ladies on the show hall off and smack down. I just think it’s hilarious and a little bit ridiculous. When Fiz attacked she though Sally was making time with her man, but what she didn’t know is that she aimed for the wrong Webster woman.

Sally does her best to put Fiz right. Well, to put her partially right and Fiz flies out of the factory but is chased by Sean. Kevin overhears part of their conversation and knows something is up.

Later, Kevin and Sally talk in the garage and she tells him that John went to see her about Rosie dating that minor Lee and that it is a really bad idea. She also tells Kevin about the misunderstanding with Fiz, sort of. Kevin is clearly suspicious.

At home Sally talks to Rosie about Lee and Rosie is clearly angry. Later Rosie lures John out of his apartment despite Fiz’s protests and tells him what a moron move it was to go to her mom and tell her about Lee. John is really an idiot and is willing to do whatever it takes to make sure they can continue their relationship. Gross.

Later in the pub Fiz talks to Kevin and tells him to keep an eye on his wife.

Don’t Jason and Becky look like a cozy pair? Well, at least that is how Sarah will see it. Jason was in the café avoiding some Sarah Platt related work when after some fantastic flirting Becky Jets Jason to spend hours working on her pipes, if you catch my meaning.

As a ‘thank you’ Becky takes Jason for a drink, which Jason neglects to mention when he later talks with Sarah at the Italian. Perhaps he should have because David actually spotted Becky and Jason together earlier and we all know that can come to no good. Can David get shipped away now? He makes me tried.

In Other News

We got an update on Sean’s legal bid to be responsible for the baby. Looks like a legal battle would be a long one and Sean would rather not fight. Violet actually agrees that she would not like to enter into a legal battle with Sean

Now I am a little disappointed in our Vera. She is just so blinded by Paul that she can’t see his faults. He didn’t clean the house when he was supposed to. Tyrone and Molly were irritated about it and took the fall for it. Grr.

The Mortons are being Mortons. Gerry is being less than responsible and showing little foresight. Mel is preparing to head to the police academy, which should be a blast. Kayleigh is sneaking out. Riveting.

I love Jack and Vera most of the time but Vera can be very cruel in her comments. They don’t appreciate what Tyrone and Molly do for them and it’s time for that couple to move on. I guess Ty is waiting to get something on Paul that will prove he’s a bad one.

The Sean and Vi saga will probably drag on for ages ho hum and also the Morton stuff. Then there’s David.

  2. missusmac says:

Vera alway was immoveable in most of her opinions. She’s especially blind to the faults of all the men in her life, except Jack. I’m a little surprised at Jack believing in Paul though.

He definitely is not “blood is thicker than water” — he’d believe anybody over their offspring Terry, and when have Ty and Molly ever treated Jack and Vera’s house like that? You’d think they’d clue in.

I CANNOT WAIT for Kevin to discover Rosie and Snape together. Does anybody know how old Helen Ferguson (Rosie) is? I’ve seen pictures of her attending award shows, and she’s dressed in what look like Christian Agueliera’s clothes…

  3. missusmac says:

Uh, that’s Christina, not Christian… no, she’s definitely not dressed like a your grandmother’s idea of a Christian!!!!

  4. Chris says:

Missusmac, here is what I found about Rosie Webster, via Wikipedia:

Helen Daniella Flanagan (born 12 December 1989, Bolton[1][2]) is an English actress. She is best known for playing Rosie Webster in Coronation Street since January 2000,[1] her first major television role.

So she was 17 at the time of the filming of the episodes we are presently watching.

    Some comments:

Vera was always blind to the faults of the people she is related to by blood. In her eyes Terry could do no wrong. Jack would try to point out that son Terry was a thieving, conniving coward. “But Jack, he’s changed!” was her motto as far as R’Terry is concerned.

As for the Rosie-Stape saga, very ick-inducing. The Katy-Martin affair was staid in comparison. This is because young Rosie wiggles and flounces her way down the street, trying to pull off her best Paris Hilton imitation. Stape is her teacher! She dresses sooooo inappropriately. But I think she comes across as “little girl playing dress-up” which adds to the sordid aspect of this story. Feh. She is such a spolied brat….

  6. pip says:

Hmm, I have to differ on Rosie being a ‘little girl playing dress-up’. She’s not some virginal innocent testing the limits of her new-found power over men. She knows exactly what that power is and she’s using it. The only thing I can’t figure out about her is why she is attracted to John. Liam I could see, but John was icky even before she started sleeping with him.

  7. geenee says:

I found Katy and Martin much more icky because it was so out of character for Martin, who was stepfather to Sarah and daddy to the devil David. He had been a great dad to those kids and I still miss him on the street.

We didn’t know John’s background, and Rosie is a very beautiful and seductive girl, unlike Katy who I never liked. The actress who plays Rosie seems to be having fun in the role and I find it kind of fun to watch her, whereas Katy was sooo whiney (much like Violet).

  8. Gayle says:

Geenee, I agree with you regarding Martin and Katie – absolutely no chemistry. I found Katie to be extremely immature.

As far as Stape is concerned I don’t get what Rosie sees in him at all, he certainly doesn’t appear to have any money(he’s moved into Fiz’s tiny little flat (where was he living before?) and has zero sex appeal. I could certainly see why Rosie would fancy Liam (who doesn’t?) I feel sorry for Fizz she is one of my favourite characters and deserves all the happiness in the world.

  9. corrierules says:

Pip, what I mean about Rosie is that she slithers around trying too look sexy, whereas I think she comes across as looking ridiculous. She is far from innocent (and I don’t mean her sexual relationship with Katie’s brother, whatshisname) — she is conniving and manipulative. And I agree the martin-katie hookup was also cringeworthy. but what I really agree with the most is why John? She did throw herself at the very delicious and lovable Liam and he turned her down (smart move Liam). But John? His attractiveness is a merely a plot device so that Rosie could go after someone her mother is attracted to.

  10. glacia says:

I don’t think Rosie’s interest in John is about her being sexually attracted to him. I think it’s about realizing that she’s a ‘pretty girl’ and testing out the power that gives her.

John may not be attractive, but
    1) He’s older
    2) He’s involved with Fizz
    3) He’s her teacher
    4) Her mom has a crush on him

She just wants to get him in bed to prove that she can.

  11. glacia says:

Ooops Corrierules…I posted your same thought at the same time.
