Where the Englishman Climbed Up a Hill and Fell Off a Mountain

Keswick, UK

Three years ago, the missus and I spent Christmas in the Scottish Borders area, which is handy to the Lake District. The central town of said district is Keswick, which we visited. It’s also likely that it was close to where Liam and Maria were staying and also the home base of the rescue team that went off looking for Liam, after ensuring Maria was properly filled with tea, of course.

The store on the right of the photo is Lakeland, where we think Liam bought his expensive walking coat. If hiking, or walking as they call it over there, is skiing, then Keswick is Whistler, BC: a place to stay, eat, drink, and, if you’re as foolish as Liam, buy your overpriced hiking gear.

We plan to go back there this Christnas.

Keswick was a destination of one of the first Hetty Wainthropp episodes too… in fact the whole series took place in the Manchester area…

    Thanks for the background!
