Just got notice that two Corrie stars will be raising funds for ActionAid (a charitable organization who’s aim is to help end the cycle of poverty). Tupele Dorgu (Kelly Crabtree) will be (eek!) SKYDIVING to raise funds and Katy Cavanagh (Julie Carp) will be strapping on the shoes for a 5K run.
Here’s the info I got along with links to let you support their fundraising efforts.
Coronation Street stars Tupele Dorgu (Kelly Crabtree) and Katy Cavanagh (Julie Carp) will be putting their work in Underworld aside as they take on action challenges for charity ActionAid.
Tupele will be taking to the skies over Lancashire as she prepares for her first ever 10,000 ft skydive on Saturday 5th September and Katy will be putting on her running shoes in the 2009 Adidas Women’s 5K Challenge in London’s Hyde Park on Sunday 6th September.
Tupele is really looking forward to her freefall experience and is encouraging the people of Lancashire and Greater Manchester to join her for what promises to be an unforgettable day of fun and fundraising for ActionAid, a charity dedicated to fighting poverty across the globe.
For more information, log onto www.actionaid.org.uk/skydiving or call 1460 238000.
Katy is very excited about the Addidas 5km Challenge,
“I’m really looking forward to taking part in the 5k women’s challenge for ActionAid especially as it’s in support of so many amazing and inspiring women across the world.”
It’s the biggest and best women-only fun run in the UK with thousands of women taking part every year. The run is open to women of all ages and whether they run or walk they’ll have an amazing experience as well as making a real difference to the lives of some of the poorest women and their families and communities around the world.
Katy is keen to encourage other women to take part in the 5k Women’s Challenge, it’s a great way of coming together with women and raising much needed money for ActionAid’s vital women’s rights work. For more information check out http://www.actionaid.org.uk/101641/adidas_womens_challenge.html

I was wondering, If Julie and Kirk are a couple, why don’t you ever see them together? You see them in the morning or evening at Fizz’s house, but never together in the pub or anywhere else. What up with that???
Well… You never really see Kirk anywhere else apart from Fizz’s house. Julie is usually at the pub for lunch/post-work with the factory girls. Maybe it would be odd to invite Kirk at those times seeing as none of the others invite their spouses? Still strange though…
Now that you guys mention it, it does seem kind of strange. I must say though – I am liking the way that Kirk is so loving and supportive of Maria (certainly Michelle isn’t at all). Michelle seems to have gotten over the loss of her (second brother) very quickly indeed.
Kirky doesn,t need much in life, he,d be happy watching a fly land in a web.
Kirk is out of work and broke so he probably can’t afford to go out much. He has been good with Maria and to give Michelle credit for once, she’s been good with Ryan. I suppose grief affects people differently but Maria has Kirk and Audrey and her family were there for the funeral. Michelle and Maria never seemed that close and we should thank our lucky stars, Michelle hasn’t been as whiney lately. Now Fizz and Maria can console each other.
The other night when Michelle was laughing it up behind the bar with Steve and JD, Mr.Bean said “Didn’t her brother just die?”
Funniest moment: Julie is explaining why you need hats for the bonfires.
She knew of an incident where a spark fell on a girl with a big hairdo.
“She went out looking like Amy Winehouse and came back looking like Don King.”
Just caught up on the last 3 episodes – no matter what we may think of John Stape, the character, the actor who plays him played “understated psycho” really well.
“We can get past this, Fiz” ….very creepy.
I hope Sally and Kevin soon believe Fiz. Poor thing.
Fiz was so brave, standing up to John, and her reward is that Sally thinks she is involved. Made me sad!
Oh dear – now most of Underworld and the police think she’s involved. I can’t stand this. I don’t think I can watch if this matter with Fiz isn’t cleared up really soon.
Good point! It would have been easy to go way over the top in that role.
I loved John “it’s not easy when you have someone locked in your Gran’s attic” Gee YA THINK!!!!LMAO
The acting has been great lately: Barlows, John, Fizz and the Websters, Maria, Tony, Carla etc. and I always enjoy Steve and Eileen (who we don’t see enough of).
I agree haili, the show has been very enjoyable lately. And don’t forget the older couple celebrating their anniversary, who marked the occasion by being taken on a joyride by a nutcase. Loved her giving her “statement” to the police — all about the pleasures of Madeira (the place not the sherry)!
just a few comments..loved when Sally was talking about rosie writing the post card and said she could “let the cat out of the bag” ..or the grans house lol. Also a tidbit, not sure if its been mentioned. The fellow who plays Jimmy, Tony’s “henchman” is married to our Leanne in real life. I had been taping the episodes while away at camp, but our sat. dish went out during thurs. episode..so I watched them again this morning. Think i’ll be watching sundays from now on, because I noticed ALOT of scenes that are cut out during the week. I knew this, but was shocked at how much is cut. K..done..for now
I knew scenes were cut on the weekday shows. The problem is, I can’t wait to watch Corrie until Sunday.
Oh..and has no one mentioned Theresa in the kebob shop when she finds out that her sons girlfriends dad might have money? The whole “if you look at him like this (squinty eyed) he sort of looks like George Clooney” almost made me fall off my chair.
that was funny. The writers are getting a lot of good lines in lately.
