Update for the week ending November 9, 2012.

Kevin Webster, there is no BEARDVEMBER. Shave.

*ahem*

So let’s pick up where we left off last week: First things first: Sophie did not die in that car accident. But Ryan did flee the scene and there is now a chance Sophie may not walk again. When it comes out that Ryan was involved in the accident, Kevin calmly walks over to Michelle’s so that his fist and Ryan’s face can have a proper discussion.

When Ryan finds Sophie she asks that if her accident means anything, it should mean that Ryan’s off the drugs for good. He promises that he’s going clean.

Shortly after Sophie learns that she is not paralysed and will have to start physiotherapy tomorrow. I wonder if there’s a physiotherapist in town?

(Yes, Jenna from Corrie answers my goofy fan tweets)

This week was Embryo Implantation Day (yes, Hallmark has a card) but Tommy had serious second thoughts and, borrowing Rita’s car, refused to take Tina to the fertility clinic. When they tell Izzy and company the news, Izzy is heartbroken. Gotta say- Cherylee Houston does good crying. It never comes off as “soap crying,” it always seems real.

Well, Owen’s not chuffed. He wants Tina and Tommy out of his flat right at the end of the week and the money he owed them returned. They have a big problem now and come up with two different solutions. Tommy goes for an interest-free loan from the Flat Above the Kabin Credit Union while Tina just says “Surprise! I changed my mind. Izzy and Gary, put that embryo in me!”

Ken’s non-affair with Wendy continues. This time, he got drunk and fell asleep on her couch, leaving Deirdre and Tracy to conclude that they’re getting cozy like a biographer and a high-ranking general (topical!). Ken’s protestations fall on deaf ears.

Gloria and Lewis were getting cozy when he learned that she was dying and newly rich. It turns out it was a ruse to test his loyalties with Audrey. When Gloria suggests they run off together, we’ll learn if he’s faithful to Audrey.

Roy was let off with a caution regarding Mary’s theme nights at the cafe but she’s been barred from ever setting foot in there. Nick decides that she should work at the Bistro to help bring her brand of crazy to a whole new level.

  1. Mary Prankster says:

Thanks, John, for the chuckles at your humorous take on our obsession. (Hallmark needs to get on that!) I needed it after the somber ceremonies everywhere today.
I hope someone points out to Lewis that now he’s learned firsthand how pulling scams on people is unpleasant to experience, when he realizes he’s had a taste of his own medicine. Somehow I don’t think he’ll take it well. Con men don’t like it when the marks get even!

    { I guess an affair between 2 consenting adults, even if one is married, is better than abuse of minors by a former BBC show host (more topical!) }

As for Kevin feeling entitled to hit people (even if Ryan does deserve it!), didn’t he have some sort of suspended sentence after the last time? It doesn’t ever seem to concern him that someone could press charges & his track record could come back to “bite” him!
By the way, where’s little Jack while Kevin’s holding vigil at Sophie’s bedside?

  2. S. Poole says:

Mary and her brand of crazy, love it, John.

And it is very cool Krissi Bohn is answering CC tweets! Just read her latest messages and she is done with Boxing Day scenes but Christmas is to start filming tomorrow. (or today in UK time)

Tommy is a jerk, Tina sure knows how to pick ’em. Send her back to Jason and get it over with already.

  3. Sherlock and Corrie together. My heart just burst.

  4. Trudy says:

It will be interesting to see what Mary does to the Bistro.

Totally off topic here but I was watching Upstairs Downstairs recently and Raquel (Sarah Lancashire) was on. She was playing a downstairs help looking very dowdy. I wasn’t sure it was her at first until she spoke. Then I knew for sure it was our Raquel.

  5. Mary Prankster says:

Yes. I was watching An episode of “A Touch of Frost” and Peter Barlow (Chris Gascoyne) popped up in a small part. Startling! Then on an episode of the new “Upstairs, Downstairs” they were playing a war-time pop-song and I suddenly realized it was one of Betty Driver’s big hits. Hearing that sweet voice (that she said she couldn’t stand to listen to) in that setting made me cry. Sometimes the lines between reality and fiction blur!

  6. Wild Rover says:

Quite a few actors from Coronation Street have also appeared in the Dalziel and Pascoe series: Jim Macdonald, Martin Platt, Hayley Cropper, Charlie Stubbs, Geena Gregory, just to name a few. I enjoy playing “spot the Corrie character” while watching other British programs.

  7. eps says:

Man, once again the most (previously) guilty feel entitled to be the most haughty self-righteous. Most recently Tommy, now we have to listen to Lewis whinge about being done wrong.
HE is the one whose behavior taught folks he was not to be trusted, and, yeah, what about the 10K? That doesn’t say something important about Audrey’s commitment?

  8. matthew says:

Tommy continues to make consistently horrible decisions . He reminds me of Joe McIntyre in that regard . Maybe thats why Tina is sticking with him . Gail is increasingly insufferable . I don’t know why Audrey puts up with her .

    • Gayle says:

Well said Matthew, I completely agree with all your comments. Gail continuously gets on my nerves. She is always hanging around the Bistro sticking her nose in where it doesn’t belong.

  9. lovethestreet says:

“Revenge is a dish best served cold.” Go Lewis.

  10. Bea says:

Wow, this time Gloria left in a taxi, so I guess it’s official. Remind me to never pi$$ off Lewis.

  11. S. Poole says:

Off topic but only slightly, anyone planning to attend? No mention of Bill Tarmey’s passing, makes me think this could be an older article.
