Tonight’s episode of Corrie featured a political discussion between Liam Connor and Leanne Battersby in which Liam seemed unable to take a stand one way or the other for fear of getting on Leanne’s bad side. He did, however, make note that he will likely support the Monster Raving Loony Party in the next election.

This is an actual party that, like Canada’s Rhino Party, seeks to make fun of the seriousness of party politics. Their current platform includes a call for separate passports for terrorists.

While the party’s founders had been around doing this sort of thing one form or another since the 1960’s, it is fair to say that one of their inspirations was likely this classic comedy sketch:
